Toronto PanAm Games

The Toronto 2015 PanAm/ParaPanAm Games Organizing Committee (TO2015) was created to run the largest multi-sport event ever held in Canada with 51 sports at 40 venues spread across 15 municipalities. Southern Ontario hosted over 10,000 athletes and support staff, with estimates of 350,000 tourists from around the world visiting us…our event was more than three times larger than Vancouver’s Winter Olympics! Such a massive undertaking has left a lasting impression on both residents of the GTA and global visitors, with facilities to be enjoyed by everyone for years to come.

Support and Service

Although the ParaPanAm games wrapped up more than a month’s worth of festivities, the business of the event will continue through to 2016. The Organizing Committee was initially looking for someone to provide Helpdesk and Desk Side support, Office 365 and network administration. Through a rigorous RFP process, we proposed our hardware, security, software and support solution – PureDeskTM – because it met almost every requirement in a single package for a great value. Our product was unique and no comparable service was offered.

Our PureDeskTM service was installed onto TO2015’s existing hardware to avoid additional capital costs, and we customized it to fit their unique software configuration. Lenovo laptops and Microsoft Surface tablets were issued; our one hour turnaround service for reimaging their computers was also very appealing. And, in case of computer failure or loss, PureDeskTM lets us deliver a replacement within the one hour window. We were able to easily scale our services up when told TO2015 had a larger staffing compliment than originally expected. With an expected high turnover of volunteers and contractors, the need to make certain all data was saved for future reference was very real. PureDeskTM‘s automated daily encryption and backup process eliminated the need to constantly remind employees of this activity, and coupled with Microsoft Office365’s eDiscovery service, Access to Information Act requirements are easily met.

Further savings were found with PureDeskTM as our Helpdesk service is included at no extra cost, appealing to the budget-minded TO2015 team. Quartet technicians, should they be needed, are dispatched from our downtown Toronto office, a 15 minute trip to the PanAm office. Quartet also remotely manages the TO2015 network which encompasses their switches, firewalls and support for their VoIP telephony. No further capital expenditures were required to mesh with our sophisticated monitoring system.

Additional services we provide to TO2015 include:

1. Technology asset management and secure decommissioning of equipment at EOL
2. Mobile phone provisioning and support
3. Internet service
