Greater Toronto Airport Authority

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) operates all services within the Pearson International Airport premises. As growth within the aviation industry slows, the GTAA faces increased demand to refine and modernize its operations and services. This demand comes not only from travellers, but also airlines, government, and increased international competition. Quartet is on site and proactively develops efficient solutions.

The GTAA engaged in a decade-long modernization project beginning in 1998, and in 2003 Quartet Service was retained to completely overhaul the very dated telephony system and provide a pool of onsite technicians. Implementation of a modern VoIP system coupled with all back end and voicemail systems started our now mature 13-year relationship. Quartet coordinates activities with the GTAA’s cabling vendors, hardware suppliers, and network provider. We have been involved in various projects since, including:

  • Telephony Projects
  • Regular Moves, Adds, Changes on Nortel/Avaya, Cisco, Octel and Unity systems,
  • PBX and specialized telephony server patching and upgrading,
  • Design and implementation of a centralized call centre.
  • Upgrading over 1200 workstations from WinXP to Win7,
  • Mobile device management and negotiation with service providers to realize 40% cost savings,
  • Emergency systems and Business Continuity Plan execution.

We have 5 staff on-site at all times and an additional 7 staff that have security clearance (RAIC’s) and are fully versed in the GTAA from a physical and operational perspective.
