An international company operating in the space, defense, security, aerospace and transportation industries. Headquartered in Europe, they maintain a presence in 50 countries around the world, with approximately 68,000 total employees.
Relationship with Quartet
Following a rigorous RFP process in 2010, a division of the company (specializing in mass-transit transportation systems) outsourced the management of their IT, Desktop and Server Management operations to Quartet.
Expanding to Telecom Expense Management
The Canadian branch of the parent company (2800 employees) utilized our Telecom Expense Management service to help optimize and manage their wireless expenses. The scope of work included:
- Audit: Comparing bills to contracts, ensuring billing is correct, seeking refunds for overbilling.
- Optimization: Rationalize and eliminate obsolete services to reduce wireless expenses.
- RFP Process: Managing the process with vendors, evaluate proposals, oversee implementation.
Results
The optimization and RFP process yielded over 50% in savings for the customer. This was achieved by analyzing usage patterns; adding and removing services; and by combining the purchasing power of four separate business units.
Going forward, the customer can implement a solution to lower the cost of international roaming. This service was researched and vetted by Quartet. It’s expected to bring their wireless costs down by an additional 15%.
Success with Wireless Wolf
Significant soft-cost savings were achieved by using the Wireless Wolf software. One of the key issues for the company is cost allocations for their devices. Their wireless (mobile) accounts include features that allow for usage pooling. The Wireless Wolf Software allows these costs to be allocated based on the amount used by each service number, which gives a more accurate cost allocation.
